OCU sets up Global Village (part 1)
1 Purpose
OCU will establish a Global Village at its Sugimoto Campus. The Global Village will offer a space where all national and international students can freely get together, interact, organize events and study. The aim is to provide students an opportunity to experience a global environment, raise interest in international exchange programs, increase intercultural understanding and contribute to their development as international citizens.
?2 Location
The Global Village will be located in the General Education block at Sugimoto Campus. A location in the General Education block ensures that all first and second year students, who are the main target group, will easily come across the Global Village, as they all follow classes in the same building. The Global Village will be an easily accessible space on the ground floor.
The English Café, managed by the English Education Development Center and currently located on the 5th floor of the General Education Building, will move to become part of the Global Village on the ground floor.
3 Global Village design and function
The interior and concept was developed by Momoko Seta, a 4th year student of the Housing and Environmental Design department of the Faculty of Human Life Science with the active support of other OCU students. The theme of the design is ‘Airport’.
【Global Village main functions】
- English Café (offering interaction with native language instructors)
- Study abroad and exchange program information + information about living in Japan for international students
- Exchange lounge for national and international students
